Some embraced the new theory, others found their faith weakened by the bewildering speculations of the learned author. Under these circumstances, believing the error inculcated in the book to be fundamental; that it aimed a fatal blow at the very vitals of Christianity; that it led directly, in all its tendencies, to infidelity; a refutation was undertaken, and the following discourse, in three parts, delivered during three successive sabbaths. - Advertisement.
