Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This early work by Edgar Wallace was originally published in 1929 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'Heroes All Gallants Deeds of the War' is a collection of true war stories designed for the young reader. Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace was born in London, England in 1875. He received his early education at St. Peter's School and the Board School, but after a frenetic teens involving a rash engagement and frequently changing employment circumstances, Wallace went into the military. He served in the Royal West Kent Regiment in England and then as part of the Medical Staff Corps stationed in South Africa. Whilst in the Balkans covering the Russo-Japanese War, Wallace found the inspiration for The Four Just Men, published in 1905. Over the rest of his life, Wallace produced some 173 books and wrote 17 plays. These were largely adventure narratives with elements of crime or mystery, and usually combined a bombastic sensationalism with hammy violence.

Book excerpt: From the coast of West Africa to the streets of Europe, the peculiar Augustus "Bones" Tibbetts is unknowingly pulled into various financial plots and schemes. As part of Edgar Wallace's Sanders of the River collection, Bones in London follows the endearing military man as he haplessly juggles business and politics. Augustus Tibbetts, also known as Bones, has left the coast of Africa for the bustling streets of England. As the new managing director of Schemes Ltd., he suddenly finds himself at the center of multiple mishaps. Along with his trusted assistant Miss Winfield, the duo encounters questionable characters and unexpected ploys. Despite the circumstance, Bones stays true to his nature and finds a way to come out on top. Wallace uses the affable protagonist to highlight corrupt business practices within London. It is an issue that affects both upper and lower-class citizens making it relatable to a broader audience. With Bones' unique perspective and eccentric voice, he balances the dark tone with genuine humor and heart. Bones in London is one of many entries in the author's vast catalog, which includes Bones (1915), Lieutenant Bones (1918), and Bones of the River (1923). Each book is a serialized version of short stories originally published in The Weekly Tale-Teller, The Windsor Magazine, and The 20-Story Magazine. For more than a century, these classic titles have delivered mystery and intrigue for readers of all ages. Wallace's work was integral to the creation of contemporary crime drama. With an eye-catching new cover, and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Bones in London is both modern and readable.

Book excerpt: Writers have been trashing London for well over 100 years now, and this collection contains some of the best from pioneering science fiction authors such as H. G. Wells, Fred H. White, Owen Oliver, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and more! Tremble as voracious giant insects descend on the unsuspecting populace! Cower before giant tripods operated by Martians bent on human destruction! Flee from vast flows of swiftly-flowing lava as it engulfs the whole of the Thames Valley! And you though Tokyo had it bad!Disaster fiction was very popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and these writers penned many such tales of doom and despair. So lean back in your comfy reading chair while sipping your favorite warming drink as you enjoy the repeated destruction of The Old Smoke.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colonial adventures in a 6 volume collection set on the 'Dark Continent' In the first years of the twentieth century much of the African continent remained dark, mysterious and still full of strange and exotic possibilities. The British Empire ruled over vast areas of trackless plain and dense equatorial jungle, all had their fragile order maintained by a small cadre of government officials, policemen, soldiers and forces raised from the local populations. To those who only read about these remarkable men it seemed they led a life full of the potential for adventure of the most exciting kind. So it was unsurprising that popular authors of the day-including H. Rider Haggard and the author of these stories, Edgar Wallace, among them, readily chose colonial Africa-with its fierce tribes, witch doctors and magic, its dangerous animals and wild landscapes-as a rich and rewarding stage for their forays into fiction to meet the insatiable demand of the domestic audience. Wallace was a prolific author responsible for several series of popular novels featuring bold adventurers and crime fighters. For his series set in the highly evocative world of West Africa he created two of his most beloved and enduring characters, Colonial Administrator Sanders and his eccentric companion Lieutenant Tibbetts, known to all as 'Bones'. Sanders was probably based upon the real life character of Frederick Lugard who was the highly regarded creator and administrator of Northern Nigeria and whose incredible career can scarcely be said to have been less remarkable than that of his fictional counterpart. Those who love classic adventure especially set against an African backdrop will discover a rich vein of reading pleasure in the six Leonaur books (which include both short stories and novels) that comprise this special edition of the collected adventures of Sanders and Bones. Volume six includes two books first published as individual volumes-Sanders and Again Sanders. This series is available in softcover and hardcover with dustjacket for collectors.
